How To Maintain Your Cork Board

Couldn’t Be Easier…

Your cork board or tacking surface requires a minimum amount of maintenance.

Cork is a wood product which can be sanded, wood filled, sealed, stained or painted. Staining is the preferred treatment.

In the event that your cork board becomes:

  • distressed
  • soiled
  • ink marked
  • dirt smugged
  • stained etc…

simply use a fine grade sand paper and lightly sand the cork surface. Be sure to only sand in one direction and avoid sanding in a circular motion. After sanding, wipe the sanded area agressively with a slightly dampened soft clean cloth which will allow the sanded area to blend well with the rest of your board.

Repairing Damaged Cork

In order to repair a damage in your cork, fill a hole or crack, use a neutral color wood fill and apply with a putty knife. Allow to fully dry and lightly sand.

We often recommend a clear wood sealer be applied to the cork surface. The sealer will restore the natural cork color as it preserves and protects your cork board.
